Deby Curcio  RYT

Owner/Teacher/Student

In 1997 my life came to a sudden halt, but it was also the year I was introduced to yoga.

My body began to turn against me. I had strange reactions to common everyday items and foods that I had not ever experienced before. My immune system had crashed. After many doctors being perplexed I finally found some relief from an environmental doctor in Florida. Dr. Robbins had begun to specialize in helping people with severe allergies and chemical sensitivities. I had been diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Leaky Gut Syndrome and Panic Attacks. It was Dr. Robbins who suggested I start taking yoga classes to help deal with the stress of what was going on and also to help the healing process of the body. To him I am very grateful!

I found yoga to relieve stress and start the healing process in and outside my body. With pranayama (breath work) I was able to control panic attacks and the over-reaction my nervous system was having due to the allergic reactions. Through home practice and studio practice I saw and felt many changes happening to my body physically as well as spiritually.

I decided that I needed to share what great things yoga had done for me so I did my first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in January 2005 with the Living Yoga Program in Texas.

Then I discovered Hot Yoga!

My body still needed help to rid itself of toxins that had accumulated and what my body now had an insufficient capability of processing out on a daily basis. Knowing the benefits of Sauna Therapy, Hot Yoga seemed like a great combination of the two. As I practiced and got stronger with Hot Yoga I again felt I had to share this style of Hatha Yoga and its benefits.

I took Level I Hot Yoga Teacher Training with Jimmy Barkan in Florida in April 2005. Then I was able to take Hot Yoga/Vinyasa Level II-III training with Jimmy in October 2008.

Through the years I have attended many yoga trainings and intensives with teachers such as Shiva Rea, Sean Corne, Rodney Yee, Desiree Runbaugh and Lillah Schwartz. I have taken classes in many forms of Hatha yoga such as The Barkan Method, Bikram, Restorative, Ashtanga, Yin, Intregral, Iyengar, Kundalini, Power Yoga, Anusara, Dynamic Flow, Tai Chi and Qigong classes to name a few.

Hot Yoga has a special place for me with the detox and strengthening benefits it has to offer. I will always strive to develop my practice and guide others down a wonderful path of challenge, peacefulness and discovery!

Jim Curcio  RYT

Jim has had an interest in sports activities from a very early age. Growing up near the Jersey shore, he enjoyed swimming, surfing, skim boarding and water skiing. Besides water sports, his teen years were spent skateboarding, snow skiing and competing in basketball and tennis.

A graduate of Rider College in New Jersey, Jim was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity where he was named athlete of the year. After college he remained active in most sports and took to cycling and participating in Triathlons.

His move from the beaches of North Carolina to Colorado brought him back to his first love of skiing where he has been teaching skiing at Keystone Resort for the past 7 years.

Jim was introduced to yoga for the first time in the mid 90’s at the persistence of his wife. The particular class he attended was very flowery and did not resonate with him. It wasn’t until he was introduced to Hot Yoga that he felt the connection was right for him. In the Hot Yoga series Jim found that he could get a whole body workout while gaining flexibility at the same time. He found as he was getting older, yoga was able to help him keep the fluidity in his joints, overall strength and flexibility beyond what he ever had. Thus, allowing him to do all his other sports without injury and with as much zeal as he did in his younger years.

Jim has consistently practiced since 2005. He recently decided to take his practice to the next level by attending Jimmy Barkan’s Method of Hot Yoga teachers training. Now he is able to teach and share his knowledge of yoga and the benefits that you can gain with a consistent yoga practice.

Latonya Hill RYT

Latonya was placed in ballet classes at the age of 3 to correct problems with her feet and legs and a passion for movement and music was ignited. After performing and teaching dance for most of her life she discvered vinyasa yoga in 2003 and loved the way the classes combined music and movement with the breath, creating a whole new mental challenge for her. She continued to be inspired by teachers who combined the vinyasa practice with the principles of hot yoga.

Realizing she wanted to share with others all the positive attributes received while practicing yoga, she decided to attend the Core Power Yoga Teacher Training in Denver where she spent an amazing summer learning, growing, and developing a deeper understanding of yoga.

Latonya’s classes to take their practice to the next level. She focuses on physical alignment in the hopes of giving her students the opportunity to expand their personal practice on their mats into their daily lives by gaining more knowledge and comfort within their own bodies. Latonya wants her students to realize they can use the process of yoga to be more content, while letting go of what no longer serves them.

Michelle Dorak  RYT

There is an undeniable sense of clarity that comes with practicing yoga.  For Michelle this effect was very healing, it was so powerful she had to learn more. She completed her first 200 hour training in Wilmington in 2009. She feels truly blessed to have taken a second 200 hour training on the North Shore of Oahu summer duing the summer of 2010. There, she tapped into meditation more than ever before (which she still finds really challenging!), discovered the meaning of letting go, and explored the dynamic, creative side of vinyasa.

Michelle has a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Art and finds yoga to be the perfect marriage of the two. She is inspired by Kate Patterson, Lilly Barels, Steve Ross, Sarah Tomson Beyer, and Don Hertsenberg.

"My goal as a teacher is to make a connection with people. I want every person to be able to carry something with them from their practice; be it a moment of peace from their busy lives, the excitement of a challenging new pose, or even just a smile. That's real, & that's yoga to me."

"Yoga gives me balance. If there is any way I can share this peace with others, I'm all over it."

Kristin Breheim RYT

Kristin's energy, love for life, and all things natural is contagious. She adores mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing, and playing in the mountains.

When she isn't exploring, she's teaching and practicing yoga - it's been her passion for the last 12 years. To compliment her RYT certification, she studies with internationally renown yogis such as Seane Corn, Jonny Kest, Darren Main, Simon Park, and Brian Kest. Her teaching has taken her throughout North and Central America. Her sponsors include Lululemon Athletica, Solid Body Performance, and Arbonne.

Being an avid health and wellness enthusiast, Kristin is also a masseuse. Under the tutelage of master teacher Saul David Raye, she studied Thai-yoga massage, a from of massage founded in healing principles of Ayurveda.

Shannon Linscott RYT, RMT

Shannon became a student of yoga in 1999. She has spent the last 10 years growing through yoga. In 2004 she took her first formal training at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Grass Valley, CA. Since then she has taken many workshops to enhance her own practice and to share with other students. She was reintroduced to hot yoga in 2008 while practicing with Deb in her home studio.

Her background as a massage therapist brings an added dimension of anatomy to her classes. Many myofacial imbalances can be corrected through proper yoga asana. She has an innate ability to scan a room of practitioners and adjust the class series according the students needs. Her classes are all level and she believes that there is something to be found for everyone from the novice to the seasoned practitioner. A student herself, her practice continues to evolve along with her fellow students of yoga.

Shannon is passionate about guiding individuals into a pain free life. She hopes that all students of yoga take what good they experience on the mat and incorporate it into their daily life. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”-Margaret Mead

Marianne Fitzgerald CMT, RYT

Marianne was introduced to yoga in the early 80’s by her mom. At the time she was practicing tae kwon do, jiu jitsu and doing triathlons. With a background in personal training she realized the benefits of yoga. More importantly she saw the benefits of yoga demonstrated by her mom who overcame the inflexibility and lack of strength due to a spinal fusion and scoliosis after just one year of consistent practice.

Marianne used yoga throughout the years to maintain strength and flexibility during a career of international travel and middle management. It wasn’t until she quit the corporate world and finished a year in massage school that she was introduced to hot yoga.

Being new to high altitude living she was amazed at the improvement in her ability to breathe after just one month of hot yoga. She moved to Summit County shortly afterward and was unable to continue practicing hot yoga until 2008 when Deby began offering classes out of her home.

Marianne graduated from Jimmy Barkan’s Hot Yoga Teacher training in 2008 and taught yoga the 08/09 season at a Summit County ski resort. She comes back to teaching yoga at Summit Hot Yoga after a season of rehabilitation.

Marianne has been practicing massage at spas in Summit County since 2004. In 2007 she started offering massage out of the offices of Summit Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. Working with the chiropractors has allowed her to increase her knowledge of the human body and how to keep it functioning at optimal levels for each individual.

From 2002 to 2009 Marianne taught Jose Silva’s Mind Development seminars to students throughout Colorado. These experiences nurtured her love of teaching and deepened her understanding about the non physical side of life.

Marianne brings experience and knowledge from sports, martial arts and massage therapy as well as knowledge of the metaphysical into each yoga class to help each student realize their potential for easier movement, increased strength and a deeper understanding and appreciation of themselves.
